Striiv: Can you create an Animal Farm?

One reader thought it might be cool to populate (overpopulate) the islands with animals by selling plants and then rebuilding them to attract more animals.

Bad news, I'm afraid.  When you sell a plant, the Striiv will sometimes randomly remove an animal as well.  So in the same way that building things attracts animals, sell them repels them.

I decided to sell every plant and fixture I had built on Turtle Island.   When the land was empty almost all the animals were gone.  The ones that remained were the ones that were "gifted" to me by the mystery boxes, plus the giant green dragon from my Acropolis.

So it appears that it would be almost impossible to overpopulate your island.  You'd have to buy A LOT of mystery boxes:  I'd do bronze if you're so inclined.

By the way, in a future post I will go through the statistical analysis of when to buy mystery boxes and which kind... stay tuned.

Keep Striiving!

  1. When you grow an item and an animal appears that animal is attached to that plant/fixture, so when you sell it, the animal goes too. But if you sold only the things that did not have animals and only kept things that DID have animals, you could have as many animals as plants/fixtures. And if they were all one lot items , it could get crowded. You can tell which fixture has an animal by picking it up to move it, but then put it right back down. When you build something and you see an animal appear, that animal belongs to that fixture, i don't believe it is random. They explained it on the striiv facebook. So, try sell all the items with no animals attached and keep growing until they have one attached. That is how you can overpopulate. :)

  2. Don't forget that many challenges get you animals too. An easy one is build a fire tree for a black tiger. If you get rid of the tree I believe you keep that tiger reward. It only takes away ones who appear with the completion of the fixture.
